I, Acharya Shambhu, have practiced diligently non-dual Kashmir Śaivism and Śāktism (a.k.a. Tantric Śaivism and Śāktism, Śaiva and Śākta Tantra) since 2002. This ancient tradition includes a variety of Śaiva (consciousness) and Śākta (energy) teachings. The core teaching that we are one free unbounded self-luminous consciousness which endlessly and joyously expresses itself through its own inherent energy, resonates profoundly with me. I am an ardent student of these liberating teachings and practices and make this knowledge freely available during free meditation classes which I teach three times a week.

I took vows as a teacher (ācārya) in Ganeshpuri, India in early 2017 with my teacher Swami Khecaranatha. Ganeshpuri is a small village about one hour north of Mumbai, where the Indian saint and root guru of my lineage Bhagavan Nityananda used to live. I have been teaching meditation since late 2017. My teacher training program with Swami Khecaranatha which started in 2014 was comprehensive and lasted several years; he still on a regular basis transmits to the teachers in the lineage advanced teachings and practices, with which in turn I serve seekers even deeper. My first book Sacred Repose, which Śakti asked me to do as a service to humanity, is the fruit of the unfoldment of my deeper immersion within the teachings and practices of stillness transmitted by my teacher.

I strive to embody and express the teachings and practices of Kashmir Śaivism in all aspects of my life: family; relationships; as a student and a teacher in this tradition; and in the professional realm, where I hold an MBA from UC Berkeley and work in software and finance. I have found that by embracing spirit more, I have embraced my humanity more. There is no trade-off between spirituality and humanness. I am actively engaged in and enjoy all levels of life, while appreciating more and more that revelation of our true abiding nature is well hidden in the mundaneness of daily life. Infusing the freedom of the light in the immanence of life breaks down all duality and the mundane becomes sacred.

My main hobbies and activities are photography, tennis, chi gong, acupressure, gardening, landscaping, growing water lilies and lotuses, hiking, learning Sanskrit, studying scripture, exploring sacred sites, dancing while no one is watching, and walking the dog on the beach (like the dog, I am a beach bum). I never thought that I will write a book - I guess writing has become a major activity for me as I am already working on my second book.

Originally from Bulgaria, I currently reside on Kauai. This picture of me in one of the sacred womb caves in Bulgaria exemplifies the freedom of the light of consciousness to accomplish anything, including melting all manifest duality back into its own Self. I am a humble servant of the light.
